The Richland County Beef Producers and Richland County UW-Extension will hold the 11th annual Field Day Saturday, July 21, at Kershner Cattle Co. on U.S. Highway 14 East between Richland Center and Gotham. The program will begin at 4 p.m. with a farm tour and a discussion of the operation. At 5 p.m., the Richland County Beef Producers will grill a steak dinner.
Following dinner, there will be two breakout sessions, the first by Michael Kieler of Thousand Hills Embryo Transfer Service, who will discuss embryo transfer within the beef herd. The second breakout session will focus on showing and nutrition for youth beef projects at local fairs. This session will be presented by Lime Ridge Livestock Specialist Rhiannon Benedetto.
Kershner Cattle Co. is owned and operated by Oakley and Monica Kershner. Their beef cow operation consists of multi-breeds, focusing on seedstock and the show cattle industry. Kershner Cattle hosts an annual show calf sale in the fall; they sell breeding heifers, show steers and bulls.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to preregister by calling the Richland County Extension Office before July 17. To register or for any other questions, call Adam Hady in the Richland County Extension Office at 608-647-6148 or email email@example.com.
