The Northern Wisconsin Beef Producers Association will host a Summer Picnic and Farm Tour on Saturday, June 2, at CR Rank Livestock, owned by Chris and Beth Rank.
The farm, which features a 40-head Angus cow/calf herd, is at N10125 Gardner Lake Road, Springbrook. Registration starts at 11 a.m., with the potluck meal at noon.
The event is open to youth and adults, farmers new to the beef industry and those who’ve been involved for decades. A farm tour, games, raffle and speakers will follow lunch. Sandwiches, drinks and utensils will be provided. Bring a dish to pass and a lawn chair.
Brad Johnson, director of beef genetics at GENEX Cooperative, will discuss the importance of good genetic selection in a beef herd. Teresa Marker, livestock nutritionist at Crystal Creek, will talk about their product line. Crystal Creek provides nutrition consulting services and nutritional supplements.
